Introduction
On their wedding night, facing the brooding groom with crippled legs, Song Mengxi carefully whispered, "Brother-in-law." "Brother-in-law?" Yan Jingyu slightly squinted his eyes and cornered her against the wall, "The wedding is done, you are henceforth Mrs. Yan." On the day of the wedding, her older sister had run away, compelling Song Mengxi to marry in her stead. Song Mengxi thought all he needed was a wife, but she hadn't expected him to transform into a ruthless, bloodthirsty, powerful figure in the business realm, known for his extreme means. He helped her face her adversaries, catering to her every need. Spoiling her to the extreme, Song Mengxi was panic-stricken. "Wasn't the woman you loved my sister?" In his youth, he had become crippled trying to save her older sister. The next second, the man sitting in the wheelchair stood up, spread his arms confining her within, his eyes dark and deep as they looked at her, "It's you." The person I've always loved is you, and that has never changed.

Song Mengxi had never imagined she would don a wedding dress for a man other than He Shaoze. Looking at herself in the mirror, with immaculate makeup and an expensive wedding dress on her, there was absolutely no joy on her delicately beautiful face. Even her gaze seemed dull, bearing a hint of despair.

Her eyes were reddened, tears welling up. She felt a chilling cold in her heart: from this point on, she would owe the Song family nothing.

"The Yan family is here. Quickly put on your veil."

Lin Wenhua draped the veil over Song Mengxi's head. Despite preparing herself, she still had a guilty conscience and couldn't help but warn Song Mengxi.

"As long as you behave and complete this wedding, nothing will happen to He Shaoze."

Song Mengxi's heart constricted and she reined in her emotions, lowering her gaze, “I understand.”

"Smile, don't look so mournful. You must remember, this is your sister's wedding. You're only filling in for her." Lin Wenhua may have been smiling, but her eyes held clear mockery.

Song Mengxi pursed her lips and kept quiet.

Today was supposed to be the wedding day of her half-sister, Song Xiran, with Yan Jingyu, the eldest young master of the Yan family. For some unknown reason, Song Xiran ran away, leaving Song Mengxi to step up, for the sake of keeping the Song and Yan families' reputation intact.

They even threatened her using her own boyfriend.

"Don't think you've been wronged. As a daughter of the Song family, maintaining the family's interest is what you should do." Lin Wenhua detested Song Mengxi's submissive demeanor, it reminded her of Song Mengxi's shameless mother.

Song Mengxi initially didn't want to say anything, but this event had left her heart cold. She glared coolly at Lin Wenhua, "If anything happens to Shaoze, none of you will get away scot-free."

"You..." Lin Wenhua was left irate, her glare venomous.

Soon, the people from the Yan family arrived.

The wedding proceeded smoothly; Song Mengxi didn't give herself away. However, the entire event, she was as lifeless as a puppet, her eyes under the veil reflecting nothing but despair.

Inside the new room, Song Mengxi didn't change her clothes, still wearing that layered wedding dress, with the veil not yet taken off. She sat upright on the bed, her entire body tense.

The door opened, and Song Mengxi's heart tightened. Clenching her hands around the sides of her wedding dress, a touch of icy coldness filled the air, the noise of a wheelchair getting closer.

A flash of panic crossed Song Mengxi's eyes. Biting her lower lip, she abruptly stood up, removed the veil from her head, and first cast a glance at the man in the wheelchair.

Then, bowing her head, she whispered, "Brother-in-law."

Yan Jingyu's brows furrowed, and in his dark, deep eyes, a trace of cold indifference shone. His thin, cool lips slightly lowered.

Lowering her head, Song Mengxi clenched her hands around the wedding dress in front of her stomach, her palms all sweaty. Her heart was extremely tense — despite the man's wheelchair-bound status, he was not someone anyone could offend. Rather than letting him find out and become angry, it would be better if she came forward. Perhaps, considering her honesty, he would spare her.

However, Yan Jingyu remained silent. Song Mengxi felt a pair of eyes on her, making her scalp tingle.

"Brother-in-law?" Yan Jingyu slightly squinted his eyes, pushing his wheelchair slowly towards her. Song Mengxi didn't dare to look up at him, and she kept retreating until she hit the wall. The icy oppressive sensation made her not dare to breathe.

"After the wedding is over, you will be Mrs. Yan." A soft and light voice sounded.
