Gwyneth Abbott was abruptly awoken by the shrill ring of her phone.

Still half-asleep, she fumbled for the device and answered the call.

"Is that Gwyneth Abbott? This is the North City Police Station calling."

"Your fiancé, Willie Edwards, and a woman named Eliza White were found in a compromising situation in a car. They ended up in the river because they didn't engage the handbrake!"

Wait, were they having sex?!

On the eve of her wedding, her fiancé and best friend were caught in a scandalous act in a car and had careened into a river!

Why couldn't they have just drowned?!

"Willie's affairs are none of my concern! You should be contacting his family!"

Gwyneth retorted, her voice seething with anger, before promptly hanging up the phone.

...

At Royal Hotel in North City.

By the time Gwyneth arrived at the hotel, it was already past ten o'clock.

As soon as she arrived, her grandmother greeted her.

"Gwyneth, what's the matter with you? Quickly change into your wedding dress! Today is the day you get married!"

Looking at the proud smile on her grandmother's face, Gwyneth couldn't bring herself to tell her that the wedding had been called off.

The Abbott family was once one of the top families in North City.

Three years ago, they suddenly went bankrupt, causing Gwyneth's parents to commit suicide, and her grandfather had a stroke. She was studying abroad back then but was urgently called back by her grandmother.

For the past three years, her grandmother had struggled to support the Abbott family.

A week ago, she agreed to Willie's proposal because the doctor told her that her grandmother was in the late stage of lung cancer. Her days were running out.

Now... seeing her grandmother's eager expectations, she couldn't utter a single word.

As if recalling something, her grandmother asked Gwyneth, "Where's the groom? I haven't met him yet! Didn't you both come together? The wedding's today, and you won't let me meet my future grandson-in-law!"

Gwyneth's expression froze. Just as she was about to speak, her grandmother took her hand and led her inside, saying, "Go change your clothes first. Time is running out. Hurry up and call Willie. Even though the only guests are from our side of the family, we can't miss this auspicious time."

After she pushed Gwyneth into the dressing room, a man entered through the door.

He saw Madam Abbott and approached her, saying, "Hello, are you Gwyneth's grandmother? I am the groom's ..."

Before the man could finish speaking, Madam Abbott interrupted him excitedly, "You must be Willie, my little Gwyneth's groom! We can talk later."

She grabbed his hand and eagerly uttered, "Willie, time is running out. Go to the dressing room and change your clothes."

Without giving him a chance to speak, she directly pushed him into another dressing room.

...

Gwyneth was stuffed into the wedding dress.

After she was ready, Madam Abbott pushed her out.

Madam Abbott nodded in satisfaction. "Gwyneth, my grandson-in-law should have changed into his suit too. Let me check it out!"

Upon hearing her grandmother's words, Gwyneth asked with some doubt, "Grandson-in-law?" Wasn't that sc*mbag still at the police station?

Madam Abbott nodded. "He is changing!"

Gwyneth widened her eyes.

"Grandma, he..."

Suddenly, the door to the neighboring dressing room swung open.

A tall, well-dressed man emerged, exuding an air of mystery.

However, he was a stranger to her.

Gwyneth's heart fluttered in her chest.

This man wasn't Willie Edwards!
