At the docks.
Several burly men were chasing after a girl, who was running away from them as fast as she could.
"I'm gonna get you, Addison Byrd, you'd better stop!
"I'm going to sell you to a nightclub if you don't give me my money today!"
Addison looked around desperately, trying to find an escape.
Her disheartened face lit up when she rounded the corner.
A car with one of its doors wide open was parked not far away from her.
Feeling a glimmer of hope, Addison rushed to it, quickly got in, and shut the door.
When she got in the car, she was stunned by a cold gaze; it came from the coldest pair of eyes she had ever seen...
The eyes belonged to a man wearing an expensive custom-made suit. His diamond cufflinks, which were glimmering faintly dazzled Addison.
The man looked her over; there was obvious dissatisfaction in his eagle-like eyes.
"Something unexpected has happened, I'll call you back."
Hanging up, he did not need to ask anything as the commotion coming from outside of the car explained everything.
"Where did she disappear to?"
"You're a pretty good runner, Addison, but if you don't want to die, you'd better come out right now!"
"There's a car over there, boss... Do you think she's hiding inside it?" asked one of the men.
The man at the head of the group looked towards the car. While he knew little about the current business circle, he knew that there was only one man in this city who owned this car. The man was the current CEO, as well as the biggest shareholder of SK Corporation, Dane Conrad.
He was the kind of man one should stay far away from.
Hearing the question, Addison immediately looked at the man next to her and pleaded. "Please help me!"
She couldn't let anything happen to her, otherwise, what would happen to her poor brother?
The man stared at her for a while before a lethal smile suddenly appeared on his face.
Addison thought he would help her because he was smiling, but the next moment, he grabbed her shirt collar and moved as though he was going to shove her out of the car.
Seeing this, Addison sat on the man's lap and clung to him like a koala. "Treat this as your good deed for the day and help me! Please, I'm begging you!"
The driver, who had been in a daze ever since Addison got in the car, was even more shocked now. It was a well-known fact that Mr. Conrad was very particular about cleanliness and that he especially detested being touched by women.
And yet, this woman was brazenly sitting in his lap?
Dane's eyes narrowed slightly as he sized up the girl in front of him. She had bright eyes, fair skin, and small cherry lips, which were all considered the standard qualities of a beautiful woman. However, he couldn't bear to look at her because of her rude actions.
Fearing that Dane would shout and draw attention from the men outside the car, Addison covered his mouth with her hand. "Please don't make a sound, I will leave immediately once they're gone!"
Addison completely ignored Dane's dark expression and only nervously watched the men through the car window.
Meanwhile, Dane was about to explode from anger. This woman was actually covering his mouth with her hand?
Dane really wanted to push her away, but he didn't know where she got the strength to cling unmovingly to him!
Seeing that the men had left, Addison's first reaction was to let out a deep sigh of relief.
She had forgotten that she was still sitting on the man's lap until she heard a baritone voice say, "When can you get away from my thigh?"
