It was late at night, and the soft moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow on the couple tangled in each other's arms.

Lily Sinclair found herself enveloped by the weight of the man above her, their bodies moving together in a passionate rhythm. Though she felt a twinge of pain, she didn't resist, silently enduring it all.

This was the last time they would be together, as their three-year agreement had finally come to an end. Lily and Ethan Spencer had been childhood friends, their bond once unbreakable. However, a misunderstanding had turned him against her, and he had projected all his bitterness onto her.

For three long years, he had shown her no kindness, except for these stolen moments in the bedroom. But now, their contract was over. Lily had paid for her supposed crimes and her torturous existence would finally come to an end.

"Stay focused!" Ethan's voice broke through the air, filled with irritation as he increased his pace. Lily clutched the quilt tightly, closing her eyes as a single tear trickled down her cheek.

Finally, it ended with a low grunt from Ethan. Lily took a moment to collect herself before opening her eyes. "Ethan, let's get a divorce."

In an instant, Ethan jolted up from the bed instead of lying back down. His furious gaze bore into her. "What did you just say?"

"The three-year deadline has passed, so let's end this marriage," Lily said, her eyes filled with determination. "You've successfully inherited all the Spencer family's wealth, and Prospera Holdings is under your complete control. There's no reason for us to continue this charade."

Ethan clenched his fist, a sneer curling his lips. "You certainly know your place!"

He stood in the moonlight, his sculpted abs and impressive physique illuminated. A bead of sweat trickled down his Adam's apple, adding to his allure.

"Since there's no need to continue, then let's put an end to it!" He stormed towards the door, slamming it shut as he left.

The deafening sound reverberated in Lily's heart as she sat on the bed in a daze until dawn broke.

...

Two days later...

Lily and Ethan were scheduled to meet at the Civil Affairs Bureau at nine o'clock in the morning. However, the hours ticked by, and he was nowhere to be seen. It wasn't until the staff was about to leave for the day that Ethan finally appeared.

Approaching Lily, his towering presence exuded dominance, his voice filled with authority. Lily didn't even bother looking at him as she turned her head and whispered, "I thought you wouldn't show up today."

Ethan remained silent. Instead, his lawyer stepped forward, presenting a document with utmost respect. "Madam, these are the assets you are entitled to from Mr. Spencer. You just need to sign it."

Lily gazed silently at the list of opulent cars and grand mansions on the document.

"Despite the fact that you framed Elaine, I acquired all these assets through our collaboration," Ethan's calm tone cut through the air. Each word felt like a sharp blade piercing Lily's heart.

Finally, Lily understood. Ethan still believed she was at fault, and if that was the case, she had no choice but to let go.

"Yes... You're right."

"I've been by your side for three long years, so I think it's only fair that I receive some sort of reward," Lily stated, her voice tinged with sarcasm, as she glanced at the document in the lawyer's hand. "Prospera Holdings is practically swimming in wealth, so I can't help but feel a bit cheated with the meager sum you're offering me."

Ethan's face darkened at her words, a mixture of anger and regret evident in his eyes. "Let's just get this divorce certificate and be done with it," he replied curtly, turning to make his way to the counter.

As Lily held the divorce certificate in her hands, memories of her three-year marriage flooded her mind. It was all over now. The love and resentment of the past had reached their end. Since they had no future together, it was best to bid farewell and never lay eyes on each other again.

But as she turned her head, she noticed Ethan had already walked away, his figure growing smaller in the distance. And then, she saw it. A familiar face seated beside him in the luxurious black car. It was Lucinda Sinclair!

So, that's how it was. Lucinda had been patiently waiting for Ethan all these years, and today, her wish had finally come true. Lily couldn't help but scoff at the irony of it all.

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, her phone rang, startling her. It was a call from the hospital. Lily's face paled as she answered, "Hello, Doctor Acrea..."

The color drained from her face, her eyes widening in shock. "What did you say... Doctor Acrea, please, do everything you can to save my grandma. I'm begging you..."

"Alright... I'll head to the hospital immediately..."

Lily hung up, her heart pounding with worry. She rushed to the hospital as fast as she could, offering countless prayers for her grandmother's safety. She was willing to pay any price as long as her grandmother was okay.

But when she reached the doors of the operating theater, her grandmother's face was already covered with a white cloth. Lily's world shattered in an instant. She couldn't comprehend the reality of the situation.

"Grandma, I'm here. Let's go home," Lily whispered, her voice filled with desperation as she lifted the cloth, her hands trembling.

She couldn't accept it. She couldn't believe her grandmother was gone. "Grandma, wake up... We need to go home," she pleaded, her voice breaking.

Her eyes lost focus, tears streaming down her face. "Grandma, please don't leave me. You're all I have... Please..."

"Ms. Sinclair... Ms. Sinclair!" The nurse's voice called out, attempting to offer comfort, but Lily's body gave way, and she fainted before the nurse could finish her sentence.

When Lily finally regained consciousness, she found herself lying in a hospital bed. The nurse approached her with concern, asking, "How are you feeling now? Are you still feeling dizzy?"

Lily weakly shook her head, her mind still reeling from the events that had unfolded.

The nurse continued, "Your blood test results are in. You're pregnant, so it's crucial for you to rest and avoid stress during this time. You should inform your family so they can take care of you."

Pregnant? Lily's mind struggled to comprehend the news.
